In's and Out's

Since our days have been rather slow here in DC, Lowell and I have been hitting a new museum everyday. The American History Museum is phenomenal as is the Natural History. The exhibits hold real life remnants dating back to fossils, to Lincolns pocket watch, to blood stained clothes of assassinated presidents. Very in depth experiences and if I were to have stayed here reading every thing they offer I wouldn't be home here because it would have easily taken a week per Museum.

Changing it up a bit yesterday I cruised over to the Teddy Roosevelt Monument which is located on a large island accessed from the Virginia side of the Potomac. On our way there we cruised by the White House which had a surprising amount of chaos going on. The street was blocked off and there were cops everywhere yelling at people to stay out of the road. Sure enough about 5 minutes later the most heavily guarded motorcade came by and pulled into the White House. Almost guarantee it was the President because they had about 25 tinted and black vehicles, a suburban with a machine gun on top, two ambulances, a swat team, and obviously plenty more secret service. Really cool to see because of the intensity at the scene. Just another day for all those guys but when they mean businesses they don't really care about anyone else.

Onward after they cleared the road I was off to the Teddy Monument. Among all of the monuments here in DC both the Roosevelt's have my votes for number one. Their like minded idea's are true, down to earth and incorporate a stable environment towards a successful nation. It was also great to do some hiking seeing that we've been walking on pavement since I got here. The island used to be home to some of the elite in area, before that a cabin to George Mason, and before that a great place to grow crops for the market.

After that we crossed back over to DC and cruised around the historic district of Georgetown. Super cool place with renovated shops, although at some points it was just an outdoor mall. They have this super old canal they used to divert water to fill and pull cargo up and down out of the warehouses in order to move goods around the Potomac. Super tired from biking all day we hit up a local bar called the Cause. A hangout where 100% of the net profits go towards a non-profit throughout the metro region. Although the Capitals lost it was nice to sit, have a beer, and call it a night.
